A typical day at White Deer Run of York is highly structured with a blend of therapy, sober recreation, and recovery-related lectures and activities.
At 7 a.m. patients wake up and get ready in their comfortable rooms. Patients gather for a nutritious breakfast at 8 a.m., and then attend a community meeting to set goals and plans for the day. After a morning lecture or treatment planning session, patients spend the rest of the morning working through the issues underlying their addiction in group therapy.
Lunch is served at noon, followed by 12-Step work, educational lectures and additional group therapy sessions. In the afternoon, patients enjoy a variety of recreational activities and have time to clean up and unwind before dinner.
In the evening, patients attend additional lectures, assess their goals for the day and attend a 12-Step meeting. After a few minutes of free time to read, play games and journal, patients go to sleep at 10:30 p.m.
